Online Advertising
Are you a business trying to decide how to advertise? Where to advertise and whom the advertisements need to be targeted for. Perhaps the business is going to target certain markets, such as teenagers. They are most likely going to have their ads pop up when then teenager logs on to Facebook. How does the advertiser know who is a teenager? Probably by the teenagers click stream. The advertiser will have a general idea of what this person is interested in by the websites they had visited.
Businesses may also chose to advertise by paying per click, on websites such as Google. That enables their business to show up at the top of the list when someone is searching for a specific need. Each time their link is clicked, one of their pay per clicks is used up. This would be a great way for most businesses to advertise if there wasn't click fraud occurring. Click fraud is when software or hired people click on the ads with no intent on purchasing their service, using up the number of pay per clicks the advertiser has paid for.

Some businesses want to target the "right person" base on the people's recent internet record. Such as the advertising of wii may show to the people who search for "Game" online rather than the people who had never searched any topics about game before.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I do think "paying per click" advertising method is an efficient way to do advertising to the target market. Most people who click the specific advertising are interested in the products or services which are advertised, and in the business's target market. Compare with the normal advertising method which showing the advertising to both the business's target market and non-target market, this way of doing advertising helps the businesses to use their advertising cost more efficiently by focus on their target market.
I don't think that the "pay per click" advertising method is a good way to advertise. There seem to be too many flaws for it to be an efficient way to spend money on advertising. There are too many people that will click on the website and then end up not buying anything from it. Also what about the owners themselves wanting to view the website. If they want to just check up on the website and click on it to see if their product is being presented in the best way, they will use up one of their views. The only way that it would be a good way to advertise is if the price per view is extremely low, in comparison to an unlimited view deal. Especially if the product webpage is expected to have a lot of views.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize there were so, many different kinds of online advertising! obviously certain kinds seem better for certain businesses but i think in general online advertising is the most effective in todays world. TV ads have become such a waste of money considering how many people today record tv shows and watch them later, allowing them to fast forward through the commercials.
ReplyDeleteI agree, except for the Superbowl ads of course! Currently, I fast forward through all commercials and don't watch a single one.
