Facebook Online Advertising

Many companies are facing a competitive advantage by advertising online through search engines such as YouTube, Yahoo, and Google; as well as social networks like Facebook. Facebook offers companies the benefit of directly targeting a specific audience through criteria’s such as demographics, age groups, and interests. For example, when a user “Like” a business page, it increases the ad’s impact by displaying the “Like” page to their friend’s news feed. It aids in promoting the business to not only the user, but also connecting to other potential customers; their friends.

The different types of budget system Facebook offers allow companies to choose payment by a bid price, setting a daily budget, or using cost-per-click (CPC) or cost-per-impression (CPM). By allowing businesses to manage their budget then they can adequately focus towards their target patrons. Companies are able to "reach more than 800 million" possible clienteles worldwide just by advertising on the popular social network. With the billions of Internet users on Facebook daily, it is impossible to ignore an ad.

  1. This is very interesting! From a marketing perspective, it is crazy to think about the number of ads Facebook users see a day. I liked how you gave an example of how this whole process works. What you "like" will show up on your friends page, which will hopefully in the sponsor's eyes, lead to a chain reaction.

    Great stuff! A+

  2. That is definitely true. Trusting one's friends interest can possibly lead to an increase in the thriving business' products or services.

  3. I think it's effective but, I don't really care much for them. I see them on the sidebars but I just ignore them. But those business pages with the "Like" button is very effective! I have already "Liked" a few pages.
